Hazards and Protection.
Storage | Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Flammables-area. Keep refrigerated. (Store below 4C.) Store protected from light. Do not store under inert atmosphere. |
WHMIS | B2 D1A D2A D2B E F. |
Handling | Ground and bond containers when transferring material. Use spark-proof tools and explosion proof equipment. Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Avoid contact with heat, sparks and flame. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open flames. |
Protection | Eyes: Wear chemical goggles. Wear safety glasses and chemical goggles if splashing is possible. Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves and clothing to prevent skin exposure. Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to minimize contact with skin. |
Respirators | A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use. Wear a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved full-facepiece airline respirator in the positive pressure mode with emergency escape provisions. |
Small spills/leaks | Absorb spill with inert material, (e.g., dry sand or earth), then place into a chemical waste container. Clean up spills immediately, using the appropriate protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Use a spark-proof tool. A vapor suppressing foam may be used to reduce vapors. |
Disposal code | 1 |
Stability | Stable only if stored and handled under recommended conditions. The stability of the product depends upon the availability of both dissolved oxygen and MEHQ inhibitor(CAS=150-76-5). The presence of oxygen is necessary for the MEHQ to function effectively. The product should never be stored under an inert gas atmosphere, but should always be stored under an atmosphere containing 5-21% oxygen by volume. |
Incompatibilities | Strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, amines, peroxides, chlorosulfonic acid, moisture, strong alkalies. |
Decomposition | Carbon monoxide, irritating and toxic fumes and gases, carbon dioxide, acrid smoke and fumes. |

Fire fighting | Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Will burn if involved in a fire. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Extinguishing media: For small fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, water spray or alcohol-resistant foam. For large fires, use water spray, fog, or alcohol-resistant foam. Use water spray to cool fire-exposed containers. Water may be ineffective. Use agent most appropriate to extinguish fire. Do NOT use straight streams of water.
Fire potential | Flammable liquid and vapor.
Hazards | Vapor is heavier than air and may travel a considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.
Combustion products | Toxic and irritating vapors generated when heated.

Exposure effects | May cause cancer in humans. |
Ingestion | May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Ingestion of large amounts may cause CNS depression. May be harmful if swallowed. |
Inhalation | May be harmful if inhaled. May cause irritation of the mucous membranes. Ethyl acrylate in humans is a strong skin, mucous membrane, eye, gastrointestinal, and respiratory tract irritant. Prolonged inhalation exposure to 50 to 75 ppm produced drowsiness, headache, and nausea. |
Skin | Causes skin irritation. May cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction, which becomes evident upon re-exposure to this material. May be harmful if absorbed through the skin. May cause photosensitization in certain individuals. May cause cyanosis of the extremities. |
Eyes | May cause chemical conjunctivitis and corneal damage. |
First aid |
|
Ingestion | Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. |
Inhalation | Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. |
Skin | Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. |
Eyes | Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately. |
