Hazards and Protection.
Storage Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Refrigerator (approx 4 C). Store in steel containers.
WHMIS B2 E D1B
Handling Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Use only in a well ventilated area. Ground and bond containers when transferring material. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid contact with heat, sparks and flame. Do not ingest or inhale. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open flames.
Protection Eyes: Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166. Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use.
Small spills/leaks Absorb spill with inert material, (e.g., dry sand or earth), then place into a chemical waste container. Clean up spills immediately, using the appropriate protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Use a spark-proof tool. Provide ventilation. Do not get water inside containers. A vapor suppressing foam may be used to reduce vapors. Water spray may reduce vapor but may not prevent ignition in closed spaces.
Disposal code 5
Stability Stable under normal temperatures and pressures.
Incompatibilities Strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides, perchloryl fluoride, 1-chloro-1,3-epoxypropane, aldehydes, epoxides (e.g. butyl glycidyl ether), halogenated agents, mineral acids, organic acids, sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, copper, aluminum, zinc, galvanized surfaces, peroxides.
Decomposition Nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, irritating and toxic fumes and gases, carbon dioxide, ammonia, nitric acid.

Fire.
Flash Point,°C -37
Autoignition, °C 402
Upper exp. limit, % 10.4
Lower exp. limit, % 2.0
Fire fighting Evacuate area and fight fire from a safe distance. As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Approach fire from upwind to avoid hazardous vapors and toxic decomposition products. Extinguish with water spray, dry chemical, alcohol resistant foam, or carbon dioxide. Water may be ineffective because it will not cool material below its flash point.
Fire potential Extremely flammable liquid and vapor. Vapor may cause flash fire.
Hazards Burning isopropylamine is difficult to control because of the ease of reignition of the vapor. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel to a source of ignition and flash back. Containers may explode.
Combustion products Toxic oxides of nitrogen may form in fire.

Health.
Exposure limit(s) OSHA PEL: TWA 5 ppm (12 mg/m3) NIOSH REL: See Appendix D NIOSH IDLH: 750 ppm
Poison_Class 3
Exposure effects Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis.
Ingestion Harmful if swallowed. Causes gastrointestinal tract burns. May cause central nervous system effects.
Inhalation Harmful if swallowed. Causes gastrointestinal tract burns. May cause central nervous system effects.
Skin Harmful if absorbed through the skin. Causes severe skin irritation and burns.
Eyes Low vapor concentrations may cause a temporary visual disturbance known as 'blue haze' or 'halo vision'. Causes eye irritation and burns. May cause tearing, conjunctivitis and corneal edema when vapor is absorbed into the tissue of the eye. Direct contact with liquid may cause blindness or permanent eye damage.

First aid

Ingestion Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhalation Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid. DO NOT use mouth-to-mouth respiration. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask.
Skin Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Discard contaminated clothing in a manner which limits further exposure. Destroy contaminated shoes.
Eyes Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub or keep eyes closed. Extensive irrigation is required (at least 30 minutes).
